MadH - not my area but sounds right to me. I believe in full force - sod reasonable. also believe in pre-emtive defence!

anyhoo - what a nightmare. there must be a way to value the bike? surely some ducati dealers/specialists would know what it would cost to buy again compared to a less rare version?

re mods - you may have already tried this but you may have records when you did your insurance search ( i am a bit of a geek when i do things like that - take names and log times of call etc, have a list of what i say to all the insurers so i don't miss ought). Anyhoo - credit card used to pay for the insurance may tell you when you rang. Then ask Carole Nash to dig out their tape of the conversation. Tell them you recall the specific conversation about all the mods etc - that's your insurance proposal. they can't disprove what you say so your evidence is outweighing theirs and will be most likely preferred in a small claims court. i'm not saying you've got a leg to stand on but it might work.
